I'd definitely be seeking legal consultation beyond what the union does. And I'd also be leaking the story. In this day and age with the job market the way it is and the stunts that some places of employment pull because they can have pick of the litter it makes it a pretty hard time for your dad being put in this situation. Prayers for your family Hun.Happily Marriedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06986545044339675305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918545958452884679.post-78119845434080052992011-09-01T18:36:46.881-06:002011-09-01T18:36:46.881-06:00So heartbreaking, Tiff. The whole situation seems...So heartbreaking, Tiff. The whole situation seems terribly unfair and I'm sorry your father had to get this bad news, especially right when his benefits come to an end. I know you all want to avoid a long and costly legal battle, but I hope he stands up for himself and fights this. He doesn't deserve this at all. :(Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04780939019087880516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918545958452884679.post-59983427003404104722011-09-01T14:06:26.057-06:002011-09-01T14:06:26.057-06:00So sorry to hear about this! :(So sorry to hear about this! :(CrazyMomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09387554825693049433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918545958452884679.post-41401175150192825552011-09-01T08:50:18.381-06:002011-09-01T08:50:18.381-06:00I take it your dad was under a union contract? Bi...I take it your dad was under a union contract? Binding arbitration means that the union will have to reach an agreement w/a 3rd party mediator per the unions contract w/the city. This means that under the union contract, the union is not allowed to bring the city to court and they must reach an agreement via mediation. This as you can see saves them a lot of time and money. This is probably why they didn't hesitate about letting him go. Your dad could still sue them based on discrimination however. See what your atty advises. <br />And if I were you, I would leak it to your local news, or even big CBS. Sorry about this mess. I feel so sorry for your dad.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01911720653927652110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918545958452884679.post-46927407790137840672011-09-01T08:21:25.975-06:002011-09-01T08:21:25.975-06:00That just sucks so bad!
