Brynna's Stats!

Apparently my phone didn't work to post about her stats...

Here they are though:

17lbs 1oz (75%)
25.5 in (50%)

head 41.4cm (25%)

She jumped up in weight, which I'm pretty sure is because of the introduction of solids. We could tell she would since her legs are the chubbiest things I have ever SEEN! Ack! She's got her mamas thighs, that's for sure LOL! I love them though (on her, not me)

She got a clean bill of health and Dr Roy was surprised he hadn't seen her due to illness. I guess we just have a healthy kid (or we don't go many places where we could pick up something).
She got 3 shots again and an oral vaccine. The good news it at her 9 mo- NO immunizations! Hooray! She had a rough time with this last round and we finally had to break out the infant Ty.lenol to help her out. Poor little thing!

He was impressed that she is already sitting up and babbling mama and dada. And he wasn't concerned that she took so long to roll over (which was a sigh of relief). He also made a comment that she may be one of those kids that doesn't crawl since she hates being on her tummy. I guess we will see? I've been trying to "pin her down" (not in a mean way, just so that she can't roll over right away) a little and get her too reach for things in front of her while on her tummy. She doesn't seem to like it that much, but we are working at it.

I have a post brewing... so maybe another one will pop up today or tomorrow.

One of these days I'll actually get around to posting more than just her monthly picture. I DO take tons of picture of B, they are just all on my blackberry and I hardly ever connect it up to the computer (and even less now that we are still limping along with the bad one)... soon though... soon ;-)

Changes

Batman quit his job today... He's been really unhappy for the last 3 years and it's been like a cancer to him for way too long.
He was given the opportunity to work some days out at the base (80) which will take us up to August with income, but after that he's out of work. We knew this would be coming as he starts student teaching in the fall (did I tell you all that he was going back to school for his teaching certificate and MOE?) which meant he would have to either work something out with his current company (unlikely) or quit and get a part time job (or me get a part time job in the evenings... unless there is something I could do from home... anyone have any ideas?).
I'm a little scared what the future holds for us, but I know this was for the best. He can't keep working for a company that brings him down so much. I just want him to be happy again and I know this is the first step on the road to getting there.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

6 months!

We haven't had much to blog about around there these days. We've been busy with general life, but nothing noteworthy... until today!

Brynna turned 6 months old! Holy Moly!! Is it really possible this little girl has been with us for half a year already!? OMG!

Here's the pics I took this morning:

And here's what's been going on for the last month:

She finally rolled over a couple weeks ago. Hooray! She can roll to either side, but so far it's only from her tummy to her back. I have a feeling she will never go back to tummy since she's not a fan of being on her stomach much. We've been working on crawling games and within 2 minutes of her being on her tummy she'll roll over. Ha! Kind of frustrating when we want her to learn to crawl, but I guess she has other ideas?
She's sitting up everywhere now and as I said, doesn't really like to be on her tummy and marginally tolerates being on her back. I think she just likes being able to see the world around her.
She's been trying more and more food. Here's what we've tried so far: Rice, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, bananas, and peas. Next on the list to try is pears and green beans and maybe some avocado (although she doesn't need the fat Ha! She's chubby enough these days!)
She has been really interested in different textures and loves to feel everything! She's been playing with more and more toys and LOVES to shake rattles and anything that makes noise. We've been reading more and more to her and she has sort of learned how to turn the pages (they are all board books at this point so no threat of anything getting torn).
She had her first try in the swings at the park the other day and LOVED it! She smiled and laughed :)
I worry sometimes that we aren't social enough (with other kids). We are still having play dates once a week with Kelly and Evan, but right now it's more "walking time for mommies" than it is for baby play. Batman started the softball season last week and B couldn't get enough of the other kids! I guess for now that little bit of interaction will have to do...
She's "talking" more and more and puts together long babbles of sound. And lately she's really been into this high pitched screeching that has Batman and I almost ready to put in ear plugs ;-)
We've been working on her standing a bit too and she's *almost* holding herself steady when propped up next to furniture. Not pulling herself up by any means, but if we place her there most times she can stand there for a bit before getting too wobbly.
Our original goal for BF was 6 mos and now that we've made it, we are going to try to make it a year. It's been such a wonderful experience for the most part and I know I am giving her the BEST nutrition I can and I don't want to stop. :)
No teeth yet, but we think they aren't too far out. We'll see?
She has discovered Kino and LOVES to have him lick her (although I'm not a huge fan of that). She will sit in her exersaucer and when he walks by she'll get really excited and put out her hands for him to lick. It's hysterical to watch.. until he starts licking her face (she likes to open her mouth WIDE when he does this... so gross!).
The weather has been getting nicer around here too and earlier this week we played outside in our own yard for the first time. She seemed to like the grass well enough and even tried to pull some up. Ha!
That's all I can think of for now. She has her 6 mo Dr appt next week and we will update her stats then.

Thursday weigh in,,, on Sunday

I did weigh in on Thursday and it wasn't all that great

159.0

up 0.2 from last week, but I really shouldn't complain because my food choices have been less than desirable. I see now that this is my biggest downfall.

I can't do it anymore or I will NEVER lose this weight!! Gah!! Gone are the days of eating what I wanted. Gone are the days of not worrying too much about what I put in my mouth.

Let's try again, shall we?

Oh and Brynna has now officially said "mama" and "dada" :)

She did it!

Finally, after a lot of work B rolled over from her tummy to her back yesterday!

We caught it on video, but I'm having trouble loading it on blogger... oh well.

I was so proud of her!! I doubt she'll be making a habit of it, since she would rather be sitting or standing than on her back or tummy, but at least she did it... I was getting worried there for a while ;-)

Computer Meltdown

Our main computer had a complete meltdown on Sunday... to the point where we thought we had lost EVERYTHING. I seriously almost cried. All our pictures. All our music. All our files. Just gone.

Batman, being the tech savvy guy he is, was able to recover everything though. It's funny how just two weeks ago he was saying we needed to invest in an external hard drive so we could back up our computer files and then look what happens. I guess we should count our lucky stars he was able to recover everything vs the alternative.

As it stands, our computer is limping along. We have an external hard drive coming in the mail any day now. Once we get it and back everything up, it's sayonara to this bad boy and hello computer upgrade. I may be a little out of touch for a little while because of it (I guess that's not out of the ordinary these days though is it?... Just a better excuse than "no time" Ha!). As it is I'm still having trouble accessing my emails.

I hate computer troubles... but at least we still have all our pictures of Little Miss.

Happy Easter everyone!

I heard it!!

This morning Miss Brynna greeted me with a big "Mom"! I couldn't believe my ears!!

Batman didn't believe me at first, but later she said it again. And again and again.

Haha! That made my whole day!!

(I realize it's not a real word since she doesn't know what she's saying really, but the "mamamama" was just too sweet to not mark on the calendar) ;-)

Thursday weigh in

Okay, I'm a day behind, but I did weigh in yesterday...

158.8...
I lost a little which is good. I think I'm going to have to watch what I eat much closer... I seem to sabotage myself my week's end.
